Kirina Dowrich is a multimedia visual artist from Trinidad and Tobago creating paintings, drawings, illustrations, animation and 3-D art inspired by imagination, whimsy, dopamine and joy.

Kirina creates art to share wonder and excitement from an alternative point of view. Whether her art is hung in a gallery, featured in an exhibition, showcased at an event or seen through a digital platform, my pieces were made to delight, inspire, spark curiosity and transport the viewer to a pleasant place. Her universal approach remains to share the idyllic and bubbly perspective she has on the ordinary and depict a world she envisages with wonder and depth.

Her practice involves bold and expressive colour, visual texture, layering and carnivalesque vibrancy across traditional and digital works.

Creating since she was a toddler, her first professional accomplishment was placing third in the Ribena Colouring Art Competition in 2001 at age four (4). She later won a National Art Competition at age eighteen (18) in 2015. She exhibited her work for the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, The Rotunda Gallery at The Red House, had an art series purchased as a corporate collection and created artwork for the Caribbean Agriculture Research and Development Institute. Her international achievements began with exhibiting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

Her recent work was exhibited for notable commemorations such as the July 1990 coup d’état in Trinidad, International Women’s Day and Independence Day. Kirina has worked in traditional fine art and digital spaces. She contributed to local art non-governmental organisations as an executive member, volunteer and collaborator. She was also featured in the 2020 Trinidad and Tobago Newsday to showcase her journey in the art field since pre-childhood.

Enjoy!
