 Sunset Artist Statement

 “Sunset” captures the bittersweet beauty of transition—those fleeting moments when the sky burns with colour just before darkness settles in. This piece reflects my adolescent days spent watching sunsets, absorbing the serenity around me, and feeling at peace with the world before life became a race against time. Through vibrant hues and layered textures, I evoke the warmth of those memories and the longing for a slower pace, where life isn’t defined by survival but by appreciation.

As I painted, I was reminded of the rocks and the sea, symbols of stability amid change, and how these elements mirror the strength needed to navigate life’s challenges. The colours reflect not only the beauty of creation but also the hope of reconnecting with it someday, to live with greater mindfulness and embrace each sunset fully. This work is both a homage to the world’s natural beauty and a reminder of the importance of pausing, of breathing, and of taking in the divine artistry around us. I hope that one day, life will slow enough for me to truly bask in it again.

Indigo Artist Statement

This diptych is part of my etchings series, a visual ode to the moody allure and untamed energy of nightlife that once shaped my adolescent and undergrad years. Inspired by the thrill and lust for liberated youthful adventure, these pieces capture the sense of time, movement, and freedom I felt during those transformative years. The vibrant, unpredictable moments of nightlife offered a balance to the intense academic grind, serving as an outlet for the pent-up energy and creativity that kept me driven.

The nostalgia embedded in these works is bittersweet. As I now navigate the structured routine of corporate life, I feel the tug between my responsibilities and that enduring desire for “regulated social life indulgence”—the kind that happens regardless of what additional engagements I take on as an adult. The free-spirited spontaneity of my wonder years has waned, with my time now split between the demands of my job and ongoing studies. But even as reveling in those good times takes a back seat, this series reminds me of what I’m working towards and keeps me connected to the untamed spirit that shaped me.

Etchings Series Artist Statement

In this series, I explore the intersection of personal growth, self-discovery, and creative expression through vibrant digital media. Inspired by the landscapes of my Caribbean upbringing, each piece reflects the grounding power of nature while navigating the chaos and ambiguity of adulthood. Through intricate linework, bold textures, and dynamic colour schemes, I capture the tension between past comforts and the uncertainty of the present.

This work serves as a visual manifestation of my evolving beliefs—faith, resilience, and the beauty found in life’s complexities. The series Etchings symbolises the delicate balance between fading memories and the sharpness of the present moment, using colour and composition to convey both the disorientation of change and the promise of hope. Ultimately, this series embodies the journey of finding meaning and purpose amid life’s unknowns, while rooted in a deep spiritual faith that guides my path.
