“Tucuche” Mens Bomber Jacket

This artwork was inspired by the dynamic plummage of the beautiful hummingbirds native to Trinidad and Tobago. I decided to use the name Tucuche as it is derived from one of the language of the indigenous peoples who are the first peoples of Trinidad and Tobago. The green-throat mango hummingbird is the species I encounter most often and it inspires me everytime I see its iridescent splendour fluttering amongst the tropical flora in local settings. This tiny but distinct species comforts me with its presence as I am reminded of the glorious biodiversity that surrounds me in the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I created an abstract representation of the colour composition to replicate the vibrant medley of its plummage in my visual style. This piece however, also reminds me of one of the striking creatures that keep me fond of living in my eclectic homeland.
